I am a first generation Mexican-American with immigrant parents that did the best they could to give me the opportunities they did not have. I honor the work and the sacrifices by my parents and my ancestors by working hard to accomplish things they could only dream of.

LONG CAREER IN ADVERTISING

Through a lot of hard-work and persistence, I was able to break into the world of advertising after being selected as a 4 As MAIP Fellow. As an advertising agency executive, I managed large high-performing teams. I developed strong skills that included training, coaching and inspiring my team to perform at optimal levels.

ACCOMPLISHED EXPERT

I have accomplished more than my parents could have ever dreamed of. I have managed multi-million dollar accounts, I have worked on iconic global brands, I have wined and dined at some of the best restaurants, I have stayed at 5-star hotels where the staff knew me as Mr. Prado, I have met and work with some crazy talented people, I even worked with Beyoncé (her hands are soooo soft).

But thinking about my parents and ancestors and everything they did for the next generation, was I truly honoring their hard work by also helping others achieve their full potential?

FINDING SELF-FULFILLMENT

In this next stage of my career, I have been sharing my knowledge to help others strengthen their skills, go after their career goals, and become stronger leaders. I listen, I support, I guide, and I walk next to my clients to unleash their inner light so that we may shine bright and reach new heights together.

When I do this, I will truly honor the hard work and sacrifices of those before me.

FAMILY

I have an amazing family. They keep me on my toes with endless questions and extracurricular activities. As a family we love to read, walk, travel, explore, eat, and laugh. Some days we feel like we are on the roller coaster of life, other days we are on a roller coaster. There rarely is a dull moment at the Prado household.

YOGA

Yoga is a large part of who I am. I practice anywhere from 5 to 7 times a week and I also teach one class a week. Yoga was the catalyst for my career transformation as I want my inner light to shine brightly. For me, yoga is not just a practice I do on my mat, it is a practice that stays with me throughout my day. Whenever the mood strikes, I will strike a yoga pose. Yoga definitely contributes to my chill attitude.

COOKING

I love to cook, especially meals that are made from scratch. It is an amazing art form that I truly did not appreciate as a child. I was surrounded by amazing meals my family made, often while chatting and laughing. As my grandmother and aunts got older and were cooking less and less, I realized that I needed to keep my culture’s food traditions alive. Learning the old ways, like making salsa in a molcajete instead of a blender. However, I think the biggest reason that I love to cook is because I love to eat.

DO-IT-YOURSELF

When you grow up with limited financial resources you learn ways to be resourceful. My father grew up on a farm and he would never pay for anything he could do himself. I inherited that gene and even though I can afford many things my father couldn’t, I prefer to do things that I can do myself rather than pay others to do them for me. Like build my own rooftop deck.
